Sarah Garner is currently Minister of Music & Organist at St. John’s Lutheran Church (ELCA), in Mound, MN. A Twin Cities native, Garner began organ study with Dean Billmeyer as a high school student. Garner graduated from the Eastman School (BM) under David Higgs and Southern Methodist University (MM) under Robert Anderson. Prior to returning to the Twin Cities, Garner was in Des Moines, Iowa, where she was an active recitalist and accompanist, serving as St. John’s Lutheran Church’s organist, Simpson College organ faculty, and Dean of the Central Iowa AGO. Also a harpsichordist, Garner studied with Arthur Haas and Larry Palmer, giving her opportunity to solo on Brandenburg Concerto V with the Orchestra de Camerata, Des Moines. Now residing in Minnetonka, MN, Garner enjoys attending Minnesota Orchestra concerts, hiking in Minnesota’s state parks with her family, and creating publicity materials for the Twin Cities American Guild of Organists.
